Garth Wareley — AwehMigo
Garth Wareley, also known as AwehMigo, is a Cape Town–based visual artist, muralist and creative with more than 15 years of experience spanning design, illustration, graffiti, visual identity and creative direction.
Rooted in the energy and culture of Cape Town, Garth’s work blends bold colour, nature and storytelling to create murals and artwork that feel both familiar and otherworldly. His work often draws inspiration from the natural world — particularly South Africa’s birds, flora and landscapes — and from the communities, people and everyday moments that have
shaped his own story.
shaped his own story.
Over the years, he has worked with brands and organisations including Red Bull, Media24, Distell, Vodacom, UCT Graduate School of Business, Design Indaba, Publicis Machine, YoungBlood, Rocking the Daisies, City of Cape Town, Breadline Africa and Lalela, among many others.
From large-scale commercial murals and public art to illustration, branding and creative direction, Garth enjoys taking ideas and turning them into visual experiences that people can connect with.
Outside of the studio, he’s a husband and dad of three who would much rather be outdoors when he gets the chance — fishing, camping, exploring nature or simply spending time with his family. His love for the outdoors continues to find its way into his work, where wildlife and natural environments become a way of creating moments of pause, wonder and connection in the spaces we live and work in.
At the heart of it all, Garth is interested in one thing: making work that means something.
