Making Room for the Earth: A Community Mural with Lalela & Zeitz MOCAA
Art has a unique way of making big, complex concepts tangible for the next generation. Teaming up with Lalela, this project invited kids into Zeitz MOCAA to explore sustainability, conservation, and what a healthy earth looks like through their own eyes.
We broke the museum experience down into three immersive ecosystems: Sea, Earth, and Sky, with a dedicated group of kids working on each floor. Armed with standard black koki pens and A4 pages, the children produced a massive repository of raw, expressive line drawings.
Taking those raw elements back to the studio, the challenge was to weave tons of individual ideas into three cohesive, large-scale compositions. Once mapped onto the walls, the installation transformed into a giant paint-by-number canvas. The kids stepped back in to bring the murals to color,
