I painted this Cape Cobra for a friend in Cape Town. This cobra taught me patience in a way few pieces have. Every scale was shaded individually, slowly built up layer by layer. There were moments I wanted to rush it, to call it done — but I didn’t. I stayed with it. Scale by scale. Shadow by shadow. Pushing it until it felt alive.

There’s something about painting a cobra — poised, upright, controlled power. Not striking. Just present. Crowned, calm, aware. It became less about the image and more about discipline. Focus. Respect for detail.
